文法の意味
比較の形を広げると、どちらが好きか、どれほど差があるか、変化がどう連動するかまで伝えられる
単に『AはBより大きい』と比べるだけでなく、上位の集団・差の大きさ・具体的な倍率も表せます。
使い方・使い分け
比べる数に合わせて、好みの言い方を選ぶ
2つのどちらが好きかならbetter、3つ以上や全体の中で一番ならthe bestを使います。
- 2つの好み
- I like tea better than coffee.「コーヒーより紅茶のほうが好きです」
- 2つから尋ねる
- Which do you like better, summer or winter?「夏と冬のどちらが好きですか？」
- 全体で一番
- I like English the best of all subjects.「全教科で英語が一番好きです」
一番の一つ、差の大きさ、倍率まで詳しくできる
最上級や比較級に決まった語を足すと、比較の範囲や差を具体化できます。

- Tokyo is one of the biggest cities in the world.「東京は世界最大級の都市の一つです」

- This book is much more interesting.「この本はずっと面白いです」
- 比例する変化
- The more you practice, the better you become.「練習するほど上手になります」
- 具体的な倍率
- This bridge is twice as long as that one.「この橋はあの橋の2倍の長さです」
文法の形
伝えたい比較の種類ごとに、まとまり全体を一つの形として使います。

文法のルール
one of the + 最上級の後ろは、候補が複数あるため複数名詞にする。

one of the + 最上級の後ろは、候補が複数あるので複数名詞にします。
比較級を強めるmuch / far / a lotは、比較級全体の前に置く。

比較級を強める much は、more interesting の前に置きます。
2つを比べるならbetter、3つ以上や全体の中ならthe bestを使う。

2つを比べるときは better を使います。the best は3つ以上や全体の中で一番を言うときに使います。
『〜すればするほど』は、前半と後半の両方にtheを付ける。

The more you read, the more you know.
「〜すればするほど…」は前半と後半の両方の比較級に the を付けます。the を落とさず The more ..., the more ... にします。
倍率は倍数 + as + 原級 + asで表し、比較級にしない。

This box is twice bigger than that one.
基本の形
This box is twice as big as that one.
「〜の何倍」は as ... as の形で表します。twice の後ろは比較級 bigger ではなく、as big as にします。
