要点be made of / be covered with
文法の意味
be + 過去分詞の定番表現を使うと、受けた動作だけでなく、今の感情・状態・材料を説明できる
普通の受動態で動作主を表すbyとは違い、過去分詞ごとにin / about / with / of / fromなどを組み合わせます。
使い方・使い分け
気持ちや状態と、その対象・原因を一緒に伝える
前置詞は自由に交換せず、過去分詞との組み合わせで覚えます。

- 満たす・覆う
- be filled with water / be covered with snow
knownの後ろを変えると、知られている相手・理由・立場を言い分けられる
後ろに続けたい情報の種類で前置詞を選びます。
- known to 人
- 誰に知られているか — This story is known to many students.
- known for 特徴
- 何で有名か — Kyoto is known for its old temples.
- known as 立場
- 何として知られているか — He is known as a great singer.
材料の見え方と、原料から完成品への向きでmadeの後ろを選ぶ
材料・原料・完成品・作り手は、それぞれ異なる前置詞で表します。
- made of
- 形が分かる材料 — This desk is made of wood.
- made from
- 加工されて形が変わる原料 — Wine is made from grapes.
- made into
- 原料から作り変える完成品 — Grapes are made into wine.
- made by
- 作った人 — This bag was made by my mother.
文法の形
過去分詞と前置詞を一まとまりとして使い、後ろに対象・材料・人などを続けます。
感情・状態を表す
I am interested in science. / The mountain is covered with snow.
材料や作り手を表す
made of wood / made from grapes
made into wine / made by my mother
文法のルール
interestedはin、excited / worriedはaboutと組み合わせる。
補足：感じる側はinterested、興味を起こさせる側はinterestingのように、-edと-ingも区別します。

I am interested at science.

I am interested in science.
interested は in と組み合わせます。be interested in ... で「〜に興味がある」。in は「興味の中身に入り込んでいる」イメージです。
よくある間違い
He is excited at the trip.

He is excited about the trip.
excited は about と組み合わせます。話題の「その周辺について」わくわくしているイメージです。worried about も同じパターンです。
『〜で覆われている』という状態はbe covered withで表す。
よくある間違い
The mountain is covered of snow.
基本の形
The mountain is covered with snow.
「雪で覆われている」という状態は、be covered with で表します。with は「一緒にある・満たしている」イメージです。covered by は文脈によって動作主や原因を表せるため、一律の誤りではありません。
材料にはbyではなくof / fromを使い、形が残るかで選ぶ。

材料を表すときは by ではなく of / from を使います。材料の形が見てわかるときは made of を使います。
