文法の意味
場所の前置詞を使うと、人やものがどこにあり、別のものとどんな位置関係にあるかを具体的に伝えられる
空間の中・面への接触・地点という捉え方や、近さ・上下・間といった位置関係から前置詞を選びます。
使い方・使い分け
場所の説明を加えて、存在する位置まで伝える
場所の説明なしでも人やものの存在は伝わります。前置詞を加えると、どこにある・いるのかまで伝えられます。
- 場所の説明なし
- There is a cat.「猫がいます」
- 場所の説明あり
- There is a cat under the table.「テーブルの下に猫がいます」— under the table で位置を加えます。
空間・面・地点という捉え方で選ぶ
囲まれた中なら in、面に接していれば on、地点や活動の場として見るなら at を使います。

位置関係に合わせて、近く・隣・下・間を言い分ける
近さ・上下・間という位置関係をさらに細かく表します。

- between
- 2つの間（between A and B）— between the bank and the school

文法のルール
「家に・家で」という基本表現は、at home。
補足：at school は学校を場所・活動の場として捉える。学校の建物の中を強調するなら in the school を使える。

『家に・家で』という基本表現は at home です。school は at school なら学校という場所・活動の場、in the school なら学校の建物の中を表せます。home と school を同じ規則だけで処理せず、at home はまとまりで覚えます。
between は between A and B の形で使う。

between で位置を示すには、間を作る相手が必要です。基本形は between A and B です。1つの場所との近さを言うなら near などを使います。
near はそのまま場所を続け、from を重ねない。
