要点such ... that
文法の意味
such ... thatを使うと、物や人がどれほどのものだったかと、そのために起きた結果を一文で伝えられる
suchは名詞を含むまとまり、soは形容詞・副詞の程度を中心に強調します。どちらもthatの後ろに結果を続けます。
使い方・使い分け
名詞を含めて強調するならsuch、性質だけならsoを使う
同じ出来事でも、どこを中心に強調するかによって形を選びます。
- such + 名詞句
- It was such a good movie that we watched it twice. — a good movie全体を強調
- so + 形容詞
- It was so good that we watched it twice. — goodの程度を強調
- many / muchなど
- There were so many people that we couldn't enter. — so many / much / few / littleを使う
suchの後ろは、中心になる名詞の種類で形を変える
a / anが必要かはsuchだけで決めず、名詞が数えられる単数かどうかで判断します。
- 数えられる単数
- such a good movie — a / anを入れる
- 複数の形
- such interesting books — a / anを入れない
- 数えられない名詞
- such bad weather — a / anを入れない
- 形容詞なし
- such a surprise — suchの後ろに名詞を直接置くこともできる
文法の形
suchの後ろに名詞句を置き、thatの後ろにその結果を文で続けます。
such a kind person that everyone likes her
such interesting books that I read them all
such bad weather that we stayed home
文法のルール
名詞句a good movieを強調する基本形は、so good movieではなくsuch a good movie。
補足：so good a movieも文法的ですが、やや改まった形です。まずsuch a good movieを使えるようにします。

It was such a good movie that we watched it twice.
名詞句 a good movie を含める基本形は such a good movie です。so good movie は冠詞と語順が足りません。やや改まった so good a movie という形は可能です。
suchの後ろが数えられる単数名詞なら、a / anを入れる。
