距離を表す close / near / nearby / far の違い・使い分け
close は「(距離・関係が) 近い」という形容詞で、close to 〜 の形で使います。near も「近い・近くに」という意味ですが、前置詞としてそのまま名詞の前に置ける点が特徴です。nearby は名詞の前か、名詞を続けずに使い、far は反対に「遠い」を表します。 場所を表すときの形の違いに注目して使い分けます。
使い分け早見表
near the station と near to the station はどちらも使えます。close で距離を表すときは close to the station とします。
close を使うとき
距離や関係が「近い」ことを表す形容詞です。場所について言うときは close to 〜 のように to を使い、人との関係が親しいことを表すときにも使います。

nearby を使うとき
名詞の前で「近くの」を表す形容詞、または名詞を続けず「近くに」を表す副詞として使います。a nearby cafe や live nearbyの形にし、前置詞の near のように nearby the station とはしません。

far を使うとき
場所どうしの距離が遠いことを表します。何から遠いかを続けるときはfar from + 名詞 の形を使います。否定文の not far は「それほど遠くない」という意味です。

The airport is far from the city center.
- 空港は市の中心部から遠いです。
The station is not far from here.
- 駅はここからそれほど遠くありません。
